How We Opened Our Studio to 30+ New Hosts For A Day
On Friday 19th September, we opened the Burst studio for 9 hours to 30+ budding new radio hosts.
The SU hosted a city-wide ‘Give It A Go’ Takeover Day, where over 150 student societies hosted events, from natural water swimming to shark tooth necklace making.
Burst Radio soundtracked the whole day, broadcasting 9 hours of live content across the University, including in the Richmond Building and Senate House Marketplace.
Burst’s open studio provided people who may have never tried radio before to talk live on-air, with an experienced host in the room to guide newcomers with the technology and to be on-hand in case of any issues.
Newcomers were given the chance to talk about anything they like, and to test how they feel in the studio.
Across the University and the country, our special live broadcast brought in record numbers for the year, indicating impressive momentum for Burst Radio this year.

You will be able to catch many of our guest hosts regularly on air from next month.
Applications for new shows are flooding in, with hopeful hosts given until the 29th September at 6pm to apply.
