Burst 25/26 Committee Announcement
The University of Bristol’s student radio station, Burst Radio, has elected its 2025/2026 core committee members.
The new team has emphasised a push for growth in 2025/2026, which means we can hope to see a lot of exciting new changes at Burst - both on and off the airwaves. What these changes will be exactly has not been revealed yet, but we can definitely expect the volume of The Sound of Bristol University to be turned right up this year.
The team is headed by Eddie Matthews, the new Station Manager.
Eddie is taking taking on the role from Heather Burt, who led Burst to win Silver for the coveted Amplify Award at the 2025 Amplify Awards, which celebrates student-run radio across the country.
Eddie truly is the person for the job; he has experience hosting his own radio show in his hometown, and comes from a family with a professional background in radio and sound production.
Eddie is a second-year mathematics student, and he says “I am delighted to be heading up the station this year. We’ve got big plans to make the station bigger and better.”
Burst’s new Operations Manager, Elliott Wadley has expressed that both the hosts and the listeners can expect a vastly improved experience this year.
This committee’s plans and ideas mean that our station will be able to reflect the fact that we are serving the university of one of the world’s best cultural and musical centres.
— Elliott Wadley, Operations Manager
Elliott explained how he understands that Bristol is seen globally as a hub for underground and growing artists across all genres. His ties to the music community as a DJ means that he is especially appreciative of Bristol as the global epicentre of drum and bass music.
“Burst represents Bristol’s music scene. We are going to give it the platform it deserves.”
Meet Sam Brace, Burst’s treasurer.
The administrative bigwig for the following year, Sam will be keeping Burst afloat, and supporting the station in every way possible to ensure outstanding growth and improvement.
Sam is a classmate of Eddie’s in their mathematics course. Sam says that he is “very excited to begin restoring Burst to its former glory as an integral part of the university.”
Along with Elliott, the list of DJs on the Burst committee includes Pip Bennison, the Wellbeing Officer.
His role is to ensure Burst’s hosts are getting on well at the station, and are mentally well throughout their time as radio hosts.
Last year, Pip was one of Burst’s socials secretaries - he was part of the genius behind Burst’s pioneering ‘speed dating’ social event, a format which continued to prove unbelievably popular among other Bristol University societies.
“I am absolutely buzzing to be on the committee again. I'm really looking forward to the super fun socials.”
— Pip Bennison
The extended committee will be elected later in the term, with details to follow once uni has started again.
We look forward to seeing what this committee has in store for Burst Radio, and we wish them the very best of luck!
