Bristol walk for Human Rights

On Saturday the 10th of December, Bristol’s City of Sanctuary Society held a demonstration march in support of migrants and refugees travelling to and living in the UK. They believe that Bristol hasn’t done enough in welcoming asylum seekers into the city, and hope that their protests will encourage the government to do more.

The march began at 11.30 at the Malcom X Community Centre, and ended at College Green. Speeches were lead by civic leaders including the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of the county of Bristol, the High Sheriff, The Dean of the Cathedral, Sanctuary seekers, faith leaders, STAR Presidents, Union leaders among others.

I went along to ask why people got involved, and what we can do in the future.

To get involved in future events, like the City of Sanctuary facebook page.
