Bristol Uni stops Sir Roger Scruton speaking

Bristol University Student Union has made the decision to stop Sir Roger Scrutton speaking at the University as part of the Richmond lectures, due his outspoken views against same-sex marriage.

Scrutton is a conservative journalist and philosopher, who received complaints for his article called ‘Gay Marriage is Homophobic’.

This comes as Bristol University voted to remain in the NUS, whose ‘safe space’ policy’ has zero tolerance against hate speech, violence and harassment.

The decision has been controversial, raising criticism it infringes freedom of speech.
